Hello Forza Faithfuls! This morning, amidst all the fanfare of Xbox 360's Kinect reveal and new console redesign, Turn 10 unveiled a vertical slice of its next major project. Currently dubbed "Forza Motorsport Preview", the demo was equal part a look at how Kinect can equalize the racing space and allow all car fans, whether casual or hardcore, to enjoy racing action on track, as well as a glimpse into how Turn 10 is using Kinect to bring you closer than ever to your object of desire -- i.e., a super-detailed virtual car you can interact with totally controller-free. If you haven't checked out our official statement on "Forza Motorsport Preview", you should get caught up here.
It's been an exciting road to E3 for Turn 10. We debated long and hard on whether this E3 was the right time to show the world what we've been working on for the past 6 months; with the reactions we've been getting so far from the press, it looks like this decision definitely paid off for Forza. Scanning our own forums as well as others, it appears there are plenty of questions about what "Forza Motorsport Preview" actually is. At this point, we're not saying a whole except to confirm the following facts:
*
The Forza Motorsport Preview we showed during the Xbox 360 keynote was all running in real-time and in-game. Yes, the gorgeous Ferrari 458 Italia you saw is testament to the prowess of our new graphics engine and the overall power of the Xbox 360.
*
The demo we showed is not additional DLC for Forza Motorsport 3. This will be Turn 10's "next big thing" and will be a full-fledged Forza Motorsport experience launching in 2011.
*
The future of Forza will be enhanced by Kinect. We are creating a game that will truly be accessible by audiences of all racing pedigrees. That said, we are not leaving our core players behind. There will be plenty here for both newbies and veterans. It's Forza Motorsport. We know what we do best.
To give you another look at the Forza Motorsport Preview Ferrari 458 Italia experience, we will be releasing a video later this week on Forzamotorsport.net. In the meantime, I'm off to join Dan Greenawalt and Bill Giese in hosting the games press coming through for a behind-closed-doors look at Forza Motorsport Preview tonight. Expect to see various hands-on impressions come through later this evening and all throughout the week.
Talk to you soon.
